Introduction
Geospatial Standards are becoming more critical to ensure organizations across multiple domains and countries can easily share information, both internally and externally. Yet the important work of OGC and other standards organizations is often overlooked by decision makers or side-lined as an uninteresting technical issue. The decision to support standards as part of an enterprise geospatial strategy is more than a technical decision; it requires policies that reflect a desire and will to ensure sharing of data and information. This applies equally well to small and large organizations.

This SIG is intended to provide a forum for an open discussion about requirements, policies and market conditions throughout the Caribbean and beyond.

Draft Agenda

  • Setting the Stage:  Core Standards Framework, from the recent UN-GGIM report prepared by OGC, ISO and IHO (Trevor Taylor, OGC – 10 Minutes)
  • Tearing the Stage Down: Is this framework appropriate? What is missing, won't work or is a barrier? What local and regional applications/domains fit the framework?
  • Building the Platform:  Towards a Pan-Caribbean Geospatial Information sharing platform?
Attendees of this session are encouraged to actively participate in the discussion, which will be informal and open.
