I head an Urbanism, Place-making and Plan-making studio, based in the UK and working both there and in the Caribbean. My work focuses particularly upon making better places so that people can lead healthier more prosperous and fulfilling lives: this can be at a local level (currently working on a community plan for part of Barbados), a national level (recently led the preparation of Trinidad and Tobago's National Spatial Development Strategy) or a regional level (working with UNESCO to re-vision the Caribbean as a "Creative Region").
I am interested in the relationships between GIS, spatial planning and urban design / urbanism. I feel that there is much untapped potential that could be brought out through closer collaboration between planners and GIS practitioners. I am also interested in the potential for combining GIS, spatial planning and digital / video gaming technology to produce user-friendly modelling that could be used both in plan-making / testing and in public consultation and community engagement.
